Founded on February 26, 1930 in Geneva by Fernand Delay and Yvan Robert, Geneva Sports Watch emerged during the vibrant watchmaking era of the interwar period. This was a time marked by growing demand for robust, precise watches designed to accompany a more dynamic lifestyle—reflecting society’s enthusiasm for sports, automobiles, and aviation.
Yvan Robert was no stranger to the trade: he was the grandson of the founder of the Minerva manufacture, renowned for its high-precision chronographs. With this heritage, he brought technical expertise and a strong inclination toward innovation to Geneva Sports Watch.
The young brand stood out with simple yet durable models, designed for an active clientele. Although few traces of its production remain today, it is believed that Geneva Sports Watch mainly offered sports watches and chronographs inspired by the spirit of Minerva.
The premature death of Fernand Delay in 1950 abruptly ended the venture. Without its co-founder, the company ceased operations and disappeared in the shadow of the already well-established Geneva manufactures.
Although short-lived, the story of Geneva Sports Watch reflects the creative vitality of Swiss watchmaking in the 1930s. The few surviving pieces carry the memory of a house now forgotten, but one that embodied—if only for a generation—the sporting and modern spirit of its time.
