The Universal Genève Polerouter Automatic presented here belongs to the great tradition of micro-rotor watches developed by Universal Genève from the 1950s onwards. This system, patented in 1955, integrates an off-centre oscillating weight into the thickness of the movement, allowing automatic winding while maintaining a slim case profile.
This example is powered by the Universal calibre 1-69, an automatic micro-rotor movement known for its refined construction and technical elegance. It features a date display at 3 o’clock and belongs to the family of Universal Genève manufacture movements that played a major role in establishing the brand’s reputation between the 1950s and 1970s.
The silver dial is clean and well balanced, with applied chrome indexes and a discreet peripheral minute track typical of the Polerouter aesthetic. The 34 mm case, with its thin and elegant lines, is chrome-plated with a steel back, consistent with the dress watches of the period.
Reference 204604, dated 1967, this Polerouter has been fully serviced. It represents a fine example of Universal Genève production from this period, when the search for thinness, precision and elegance resulted in some of the most accomplished automatic watches of their time.
