This exceptional pocket watch, signed Edward Upjohn of Exeter, embodies the elegance and technical mastery of English horology in the 18th century. It is housed in a double yellow gold case, finely repoussé and chased by hand, with a 43 mm inner case fitted within a protective outer case measuring 51 mm in diameter.

The verge escapement movement with fusee and chain reflects a refined level of mechanical expertise, while the pierced and hand-engraved balance cock illustrates the decorative virtuosity characteristic of English watchmaking of this period.

A rare timepiece, symbolising the close relationship between decorative art and the measurement of time in the mid-18th century.
