This workshop in Les Brenets was founded in 1865 by the brothers Alcide and Léon Guinand. In 1875, Léon Guinand continued the venture on his own until his death in 1912. The business was then taken over by his widow, in collaboration with their sons. The company remained active until the 1970s.

The firm specialized in chronographs and counters, and in 1900 patented a series of chronographs known as Le Chauffeur, in which the central hand completed one revolution in 4, 5, or 6 minutes.

Guinand did not always sign his dials and apparently did not manufacture his own movements. As a result, identifying a Guinand chronograph can be challenging. However, it appears that the National Park brand— not to be confused with Excelsior Park — was one of Guinand’s trademarks.
